Engaging Multiple Government and Non-Government Stakeholders
Lumajira is committed to building strong, multi-sector partnerships with government agencies, private sector companies, and nonprofits to improve outcomes in Kenya's informal economy. Recognizing that lasting change depends on a supportive and inclusive ecosystem, we actively collaborate with key stakeholders at national and county levels.
Our engagements include partnerships with relevant ministries, such as the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Environment and Forestry, and others focused on trade, cooperatives, and youth empowerment. These collaborations aim to co-design initiatives that address the unique challenges faced by informal workers.
Through participation in networks, forums, and multi-stakeholder platforms, Lumajira advocates for enabling policies that uplift the informal sector, including:
- Simplified business registration and licensing procedures
- Inclusion in social protection schemes, such as health insurance and pensions
- Improved infrastructure for informal markets and workspaces
- Access to affordable credit and financial services
- Skills training and formalization pathways aligned with national priorities
We support fostering inclusive dialogue, ensuring that the voices of informal workers—particularly women, youth, and marginalized groups—directly inform policy decisions. By bridging government, civil society, private sector, and communities, Lumajira helps create an enabling environment for sustainable livelihoods.
This strategic focus aligns with SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, emphasizing multi-stakeholder collaboration, and supports Kenya’s Vision 2030 Political Pillar, promoting accountable, people-centered governance and inclusive policy integration.
